SYDONIAWORLD Launch Workshop in Comoros

The Comorian Customs had organized a workshop on the migration to ASECUDAWorld that took place at Ritaj Hotel on Thursday 22nd February 2018.
The goal of the workshop was to present the activities carried out and inform the agents of the SYDONIAWorld prototype.


The Minister of Finance and Budget, Mr. Saïd Ali Saïd Chayhane, the Director General of Customs Kamalidini Souef, the UNCTAD representative,the program and project coordinators, and representatives of different private sectors attended the workshop.

Several speecheshad been voice out., namely the speech of the project manager, Mondjié Mmadi who stated that " the project of migration to ASECUDAWorld as well as the migration of interconnection with the agencies and the security of network is part of the Program of support to the regional integration of COMESA which is financed by the European Union. "

The system is not yet integrated in all countries though The Comorian customs administration is one of the customs which had taken all steps to meet the requirements of international trade and to adopt the system. This was stated by the representative of UNCTAD during his speech; "The Comoros is one of the first countries to adopt the ASECUDAWorld system," had declared the representative of UNCTAD.

Indeed, in his speech the general director of the Customs Kamaldini Souef stated that « the performance of the sydonia system as well as its functional capacities. "The system will strengthen the operational capacity of the Union of Comoros Customs in revenue optimization, economic growth, trade facilitation, protection of the population and securing the customs clearance logistics chain".

The ASECUDAWorld system integrates new technologies, ensures interconnection and is operational at the port of Moroni since 5th march , 2018.

The general benefits of ASECUDAWorld are numerous: the total computerization of customs operations, the strengthening of regulations, the accurate and real-time production of statistics and standardization based on the recommendations of international organizations.

At the launch, the Minister of Finance and Budget announced that " the government under the authority of the President of the Republic is willing to ensure that the customs administration meets the government's commitments and meets international standards in management of the flow of goods ".

On 28 June 2022, at the invitation of the Belgian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance in charge of the Coordination of the Fight against Fraud, Mr. Van Peteghem, the Secretary General of the World Customs Organization (WCO), Dr. Kunio Mikuriya, took part in the graduation ceremony of the 50th session of the Belgian Customs School. The ceremony marked the end of 10 months of theoretical and practical training in core Customs matters provided by the Belgian Customs School and complemented by the WCO.
