Operation Pangea X: nearly 13,552 tablets and illicit or counterfeit pharmaceutical products seized in the Comoros.

The international operation "PANGEA X", aimed at combating the illicit sale of medicines, this year involved 123 countries including Comoros. This operation took place from 9 to 16 September 2017 and resulted in a large number of arrests and findings in Comoros as well as the seizure of thousands of potentially dangerous drugs.

In Comoros, the Pangea operation was launched on 12 November 2017 by the Director General of Customs, Souef Kamalidini, under the slogan "the purchase of goods in any website is a danger for the comorian population".

The objective of Operation PANGEA X was to raise the awareness of the Comorian population of the risks associated with the purchase of medicines through less incredible sites. This awareness-raising campaign seized counterfeit , illicit medicines and medical products which are all now was from the market.

The Comorian Customs D has seized nearly 13,552 tablets and illicit or counterfeit pharmaceutical products.

The majority of these products are drugs without marketing authorization, skin lightening creams but also of pharmaceutical active ingredients in bulk.

On 28 June 2022, at the invitation of the Belgian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance in charge of the Coordination of the Fight against Fraud, Mr. Van Peteghem, the Secretary General of the World Customs Organization (WCO), Dr. Kunio Mikuriya, took part in the graduation ceremony of the 50th session of the Belgian Customs School.
